While the last couple albums kinda veered off into areas that weren't as pleasing to my ears, I've always dug this band. This is my favorite album of theirs since Forgotten Paths came out back in '19. The songs are long but they're worth it seeing the whole song come together. Really strong release.
Favorite track: Echoes of the Ancient Land.

An absolutely fantastic addition to Saor's catalog, Amidst the Ruins is an album that is very much Saor but unfolds in new and rewarding ways. What could've been a simple reliance on formula to appease fans turned into something more.
I saw it as adhering to Andy's formula first listen. But I listened to it again, and noticed some new influences. I think one of the biggest successes is The Sylvan's Embrace, which sounds like a Scottish version of a Of The Wand and The Moon song.
A must listen. Favorite track: Rebirth.

An incredible album, one of my favorite album of 2025 ! SAOR found the perfect balance between the celtic folk instruments and the agressiveness of Black Metal.
Amidst the Ruins and Rebirth are both perfect representation of this album, the folkloric part breathes, brings some fresh air without being too present as it can be in folk metal band, the metal part is then here to pin down the listener bringing him back to the ground.
A must have ! Favorite track: Rebirth.

The first album is already a very good one, but the second is even better! It contains again nature black metal, quite melodic, but also wild, with some folkloristic elements, full of atmosphere and performed with passion. For me, BLACKBRAID fits well into the same category as other epic one man bands like Saor, Ruadh or Pure Wrath. Besides the catchy and quite straight opener "The Spirit returns", I mention the mightiest track "Moss covered Bones on the Altar of the Moon" as my favourite song!

The best album I have heard in years, maybe even in over a decade. A revelation matched perhaps only by a chosen few. "Stripped down" and "emotional" in the very best sense. Transcendent. My eyes are opened as they once were only by Deathspell Omega.

Les Chants de l'Aurore

Easily my top album of 2024 this is one of the most beautiful albums I’ve ever heard. Alcest is the singular band I can personally say has a flawless discography and Les Chants de l’Aurore is no exception. I feel like Winterhalter has perfected his drumming on songs like Komorebi, Amethyste, L’Envol, and L’Enfant de la Lune. Add to that Neige’s ethereal melodies and vocals and you have another perfect album in my opinion.
