Hostile black metal that feels like you're standing in the middle of a raging storm. So many layers can be found in the songs here, it definitely deserves several listens in order to be fully appreciated. Aussie black metal strikes again!

I cannot recall a year in which so many AOTY contenders were released before spring began, but 2023 has already delivered enough upon which to base a reputable top 10, with Unfelled piling on. While Pall of Endless Perdition sounds nothing like the involved members’ works (Drudkh, Woods of Desolation), all of their songwriting expertise and instrumental proficiency are brought to bear here in what is at once beautifully visceral and continuously unfolding in its depth. Fantastic black metal!

Emerging Pagan black metal project UNFELLED is rising from the underground to release their debut full-length, ‘Pall of Endless Perdition’.
Designed by the same mastermind behind Woods of Desolation, the project serves as a vicious and violent counterpart to its elegant and melodic predecessor, showcasing muti-instrumentalist D.’s impressive musical duality.
Musically weaving together fury and triumph with aggression and melody, the lyrics predominately center on bloodshed, war and death – the threefold cloak beneath which lies eternal darkness.

Formed in 2016 as a project of D. (WOODS OF DESOLATION, REMETE), UNFELLED first emerged with the solo demo offering “Beneath
Distant Skies” at the end of 2017.
Expanding the line-up in 2020, fellow veterans Mitch (AUSTERE, DEARTHE) and Vlad (DRUDKH, WINDSWEPT) were enlisted on vocals and drums respectively, completing the vision for the band.

The first album is already a very good one, but the second is even better! It contains again nature black metal, quite melodic, but also wild, with some folkloristic elements, full of atmosphere and performed with passion. For me, BLACKBRAID fits well into the same category as other epic one man bands like Saor, Ruadh or Pure Wrath. Besides the catchy and quite straight opener "The Spirit returns", I mention the mightiest track "Moss covered Bones on the Altar of the Moon" as my favourite song!

Seething with anger, Misþyrming have come from Iceland to deliver a dense black metal offering. Full of melodic and blasting rage this is a performance you won’t easily forget. 8/10
