Swords of Dajjal is mostly fast paced and highly energetic black/death metal. Great riffs, memorable and diverse songs and breathtaking blast beats crowned by some evil vocals. If they improve from this release to the next as they did from the previous to this the next one surely will be on many AOTY lists. Necrowretch are on a very promising way.
Favorite track: Dii Mauri.

There's black metal, there's death metal. Then you have NECROWRETCH, a band which combines the best of both worlds into music made straight from the depths of hell.
The band may be coming from France, their debut ‘Putrid Death Sorcery’ spawned right out of the inferno. So far, they've released two classic blackened death albums on Season of Mist; ‘Satanic Slavery’ and ‘The Ones From Hell’.
Now, NECROWRETCH are back with ‘Swords of Dajjal’, an album that is quite literally the manifestation of the antichrist. There are no messiahs, only NECROWRETCH who, with this brutal portrayal, breaks open the gates of heaven, ripping out its chains – that's going to be a pricy expense for the Lord!
Expect brutal blast beats, maximum riffage and deafening bass tones.

The first album is already a very good one, but the second is even better! It contains again nature black metal, quite melodic, but also wild, with some folkloristic elements, full of atmosphere and performed with passion. For me, BLACKBRAID fits well into the same category as other epic one man bands like Saor, Ruadh or Pure Wrath. Besides the catchy and quite straight opener "The Spirit returns", I mention the mightiest track "Moss covered Bones on the Altar of the Moon" as my favourite song!
