Gokiburi When I'm listening to this album I think about how I would describe the sound. I imagine an incomprehensible creature slowly emerging from a dank and grimy subterranean tunnel, its dull claws slipping on wet stone, its lethargic weight crunching the grit of the tunnel floor. A crushing and horrifying force emerging from the darkness unrelenting. At least, that's how I feel about the album. ;) I highly recommend it.

Dan Hébert Bleak, heavy, drenched in atmosphere. Every song stands out. Perfect darkness. Favorite track: Bathed in a Black Sun.

space.scoundrel Haunting and melancholic, but with massive brawn lurking beneath. An emotional journey punctuated by thunderous drums and superb riffwork. Reminiscent of Triptykon in all the best ways. Favorite track: Bathed in a Black Sun.

From death comes rebirth, as is such with STRIGOI.
Formed in the ashes of VALLENFYRE by guitarist/vocalist Gregor Mackintosh (PARADISE LOST) and bassist Chris Casket, the experimental death metal formation is now unleashing their sophomore effort: ‘Viscera’.
This devastating brand of death metal pulls sludge and crust elements while lyrically, the album explores themes of both real and conceptual horror, coalescing into what can only be described as the ultimate mixtape of misery.

What I like the most about this album is that it seems to be more riff-oriented and memorable compared to their earlier albums which were chock-full of crazy dissonant riffage but their songs often meandered or lacked any distinct progression. That is not to say that this this album is any less dense, but is certainly a little catchier, here and there. As always with Ulcerate, their music rewards repeated listening while clearly retaining the tragic, emotional feeling the band is known for. Lefteris Kefalas

As much as I like to stick to my roots and keep OSDM close to my heart, there are a few bands out there that play that prog / blackened DM that tickle my pickle with great growls, pummelling riffs and melodies that trigger my dopamine reaction. HATH is one of them, by all means, this is some extremely well-crafted BDM with mature song-writing and flawless execution!! FFO Sulphur Aeon, Ulcerate, Bloodbath, etc... sashavonkarl74
