Saffron Robe “Nothing but the Whole” is one of the most distinctive and unique albums I have ever heard, and one of my all-time favourites. It seems to transcend all genres and yet encapsulates the best of all my favourite genres. I don’t think it can ever be topped, although this album, whilst not quite as good and more restrained, is a very enjoyable companion and worthy successor nevertheless. Favorite track: Your Skin Won't Hide You.

Dmitry Nevozhay Masterpiece. One of the strangest album i've ever heard in sense of peculiar dark atmosphere. Early Emptiness was a rather typical death-doom band, then progressive dark death-doom, and here it's completely unknown beast, more on a post-rock territory. Unique, and therefore highly recommended

Deadpanist You feel the rage and spite boiling right under the surface. The subdued approach works wonders. A prime example of taking a genre template and turning it on its head. Fantastic and surprising.

Tracks such as "Meat Heart", "Your Skin Won't Hide You', and the aptly titled "Let it Fall" see the band break all conventions of black and death metal with their morose and innovative songwriting. Dark and foreboding, EMPTINESS manifest malevolent soundscapes and 'Not For Music' is a perilous journey into the unknown. Beware!

An album that I heard all too late, but one that has massively shaped my recent music taste, and with the bands split, it has opened me up to two amazing bands in the last year. Big fan of all of Patriakh's work, and Batushka aswell, but this is still the best album of the bunch, where it all started! kaw1392
